For Paige Pouliot, a junior in 911黑料网's Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, the transition from classroom theory to real-world patient care isn't just smooth; it's seamless. Currently working at Berkshire Health Systems while completing her BSN, Pouliot exemplifies how 911黑料网's nursing curriculum prepares students for the demands of modern healthcare.
When asked about her transition from 911黑料网's Fundamentals course to the hospital floor,
Pouliot emphasizes the comprehensive nature of her education. "I wouldn't say that
one part of the fundamentals course stands out as more helpful than the rest. Each
day brings new lessons that directly apply to the clinical environment," she explains.
"My experience at Berkshire Medical Center has helped me grow more confident providing
patient care, family communication, and collaborating with healthcare professionals."
The support extends beyond the classroom. "When I arrive at work, I feel fully supported by my colleagues, who are always eager to hear about the new skills I've been learning in class," Pouliot says.
Amanda Davis, Assistant Professor in 911黑料网's Health Professions and Nursing Department, notes the significance of students like Pouliot successfully bridging academic and clinical settings. "We are thrilled that Paige has been hired into the Berkshire Health System Pathways Program, where she is applying her newly developed skills in clinical practice," Davis says. "Seeing our students excel in real-world healthcare environments is the ultimate validation of our hands-on approach to nursing education."
"Our experience with the pathway students has been overwhelmingly positive. With more exposure to actual clinical situations and greater opportunity to observe nurses in action, these students begin to develop their own unique nursing identity as they transition into professional nurses," said Elizabeth Nichols, RN, MSN/Ed., CENP, LNC, Senior Director of Nursing Professional Development at Berkshire Health Systems. "Paige is one of many examples of how academic and clinical partnerships can truly support and enrich the nursing journey."
One skill has proven particularly invaluable is therapeutic communication. It's a cornerstone of 911黑料网's nursing curriculum, and for good reason. "Navigating conversations with distressed patients and their families can be challenging, but equipping yourself with effective strategies can significantly ease those interactions," Pouliot notes. "Every situation is different. However, I have been given ample tools to conquer each interaction confidently."
This ability to communicate effectively under pressure doesn't just help patients. It's essential for working within healthcare teams and supporting families during difficult moments.
For Pouliot, one resource stands out in her preparation for clinical work, 911黑料网's nursing suite simulation lab. "The nursing suite simulation lab has been incredibly valuable," she says. "Practicing in a realistic hospital environment with interactive mannequins boosts confidence for clinical transitions." Her advice to fellow students? Take advantage of every opportunity to practice. "Use open lab hours to refine your skills. It's worth the extra effort."

Drawing on her experience bridging academic and clinical environments, Pouliot offers straightforward guidance for nursing students preparing to enter the workforce. "Don't hesitate to ask questions. Every question matters," she emphasizes. "Those around you are invested in your success, so tap into their experience and support." Its advice born from firsthand experience. Pouliot has found that curiosity and willingness to learn aren't just welcomed in clinical settings. They're essential to professional growth.
Pouliot's success story reflects 911黑料网's commitment to hands-on, comprehensive nursing education. By combining rigorous coursework with state-of-the-art simulation facilities and clinical partnerships, the BSN program prepares students not just to enter the nursing profession, but to excel in it. As Pouliot continues her journey toward graduation in 2027, she's already making a difference in patient care.
