Professional Licensure: Please note that while the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) enables 911ºÚÁÏÍø to offer courses and programs in member states and territories outside Massachusetts, local state laws and regulations that govern professional licensure in students' home states still apply to any professional licensure course or program offered by 911ºÚÁÏÍø. 911ºÚÁÏÍø confirms that the programs listed above lead to licensure in Massachusetts but cannot confirm whether any of these programs meet the requirements for professional licensure and certification outside of Massachusetts. 911ºÚÁÏÍø recommends that you contact your home state's licensing agency to identify and determine licensing and certification requirements. *Click for your state’s professional licensure agency contact information to determine whether 911ºÚÁÏÍø’s program meets your state’s requirements for licensure.
Massachusetts participates with every state and the District of Columbia through the to accept candidates' state approved educator preparation program or possession of the equivalent of at least an Initial license/certificate. Please note that the interstate agreement does not exempt candidates from degree, testing and/or prerequisite requirements applicable to the license sought.
Candidates from outside of Massachusetts may meet requirements for an Initial license if they have met one of the following:
911ºÚÁÏÍø's teacher licensure programs are as effective as they are practical; students who complete our teacher licensure courses have a 98% pass rate on the Massachusetts Test for Educator Licensure.
All licensure candidates will complete a minimum of 96 hours of work in a classroom appropriate to the license prior to student teaching.
