9/18 & 10/28: Book Scanner & PDFs

Thursday, September 18
Tuesday, October 28

Noon–1 p.m.
Murdock 209 / Teams

Academic Technology has a new book scanner! In this hands-on workshop we'll go through the workflow to turn physical course materials into accessible PDFs. Bring course materials to scan if you like! Note that both sessions will be identical.

10/30: Practical Use of AI

Thursday, October 30
Noon–1 p.m.

Faculty Center / Teams

Join us for a nuts & bolts workshop exploring some of the practical questions about AI tools, specifically large language models (LLMs): What are these tools good at? What are they not good at? How can I prompt them more effectively? What are the privacy risks and how can we mitigate them? How might I think about the environmental impact of regular use? (Note that this workshop will focus more on our own individual use of these tools and less on their use in the classroom; for that, see the Nov. 6 workshop with CTL.)

11/6: AI & Assignment Design (with CTL)

Thursday, November 6
Noon–1 p.m.
Faculty Center / Teams

"...a tool capable of reducing (or eliminating) the friction that makes thinking, writing, and problem-solving challenging is often going to be at odds with the messy and difficult process of learning" -Jane Rosenzweig,

In this workshop, we'll discuss "useful friction" as a framework for exploring where we might invite students to use AI and where (and how) we might discourage it. There will be time to think through your own courses, so come with sample assignments in mind!

12/11: Workshop (with Freel Library)

Thursday, December 11
Noon–1 p.m.
Freel Library / Teams
